Kostyuk Award is one of the most prestigious awards for the young biomedical scientists working in Ukraine. In 2016, the selection committee received 26 applications from very accomplished young scientists from different research institutes. This resulted in the highest level of competition since the Award establishment in 2010.
5 most prominent young investigators, Olha Brovarets, Andriy Dinetz, Ludmila Kasatkina, Roman Moskalenko, and Andrey Stepanyuk have been selected as finalists for the 2016 award. All finalists gave presentations on their research at the award ceremony. Ludmila Kasatkina from Palladin Institute of Biochemistry NASU (Kyiv, Ukraine) and Andrey Stepanyuk from Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology NASU (Kyiv, Ukraine) have been selected as the recipients of 2016 Kostyuk Award. This was the third time in the history of the award that two young scientists won it simultaneously by scoring the equal number of points.
